Gene opens with 'Down Yonder' before the show turns to comedy about Pat's new detective ambitions and a cattle-rustling case. Rustlers burn the Hastings ranch barn as a diversion and drive off the herd; Pat's homemade camera trap photographs one of the thieves, but the local sheriff tries to seize and destroy the evidence because he is part of the racket. Gene confronts the sheriff and his accomplice, has a U.S. marshal called in, and exposes the protection scheme before the program returns to western music.
