Traveler Arthur Llewellyn stops in the isolated village of Martin and becomes fascinated by Ilsa and townspeople who watch him with the unsettling intensity of cats. He flees after discovering their nocturnal, animal-like secret, and a doctor later dismisses the experience as an ancestral hallucination; a patch of soft grey fur left on Arthur's shoulder convinces him otherwise, and he buys a one-way ticket back to Martin.
