CBS entered national broadcasting in 1927 and grew into one of the dominant networks of the Golden Age, carrying comedy, drama, news, variety, and some of radio's best-known long-running series.
In Golden Radio Hour, CBS Radio Network is tied to 49 programs. The surviving network-linked recordings here run from 1936 to 1982.
Programs with a particularly strong presence here include CBS Radio Mystery Theater, Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, Gunsmoke, Lux Radio Theatre, Columbia Workshop, Escape, Dr. Christian, Broadway Is My Beat, The Whistler, and Sears Radio Theater.
People who recur often in those network-linked recordings include Himan Brown, E. G. Marshall, William Conrad, Parley Baer, Norman Macdonnell, Howard McNear, Virginia Gregg, George Walsh, John Dehner, and Roy Rowan. These are archive connections, not a claim that everyone on the list was employed directly by the network.
