At Christmas, Dr. Christian watches nurse Goldie devote herself to Tony, a seriously ill boy in the Center City hospital, while young Dr. Danny Bradford quietly falls in love with her. Tony worries about what will happen to Goldie when he is no longer there for her and decides that Bradford is the man who ought to look after her. The adults hesitate to say openly what they feel, but Tony finally forces the question at the child's Christmas celebration, asking Goldie whether she wants Bradford as her Christmas present. She admits that she does. Dr. Christian later explains that Danny Bradford and Goldie were married the following Christmas Day, with Tony recovering slowly but steadily.
