A bachelor theater man agrees to send a little girl named Patsy back to her children's home, but she refuses to reveal the address and quickly makes strangers believe he is her father. A young woman named Diane helps him through the resulting confusion, and before long he finds himself responsible for five children while trying to mount a Broadway play. He solves both problems by putting the children into the production and falls in love with Diane. She finally admits that she is a dramatic coach who engineered the scheme to place her pupils in his show, but their romance has become genuine and the pair decide to build a life together.
