When Mr. Colby needs a bank loan, Mel and Professor Pachnik stage an elaborate parade of invented foreign relatives in hopes of impressing banker Grimes. The deception collapses, but Grimes turns out to be an amateur actor who enjoys Mel’s performance enough to approve the loan, keeping Betty’s family from moving away.
