Earl on Troubled Waters
About This Broadcast
Harry joins Robinson in a scheme to move a large sum of money across the Channel and winds up carrying £29,000 while a troublesome boy named Ronald keeps noticing more than Harry would like. Harry takes control of the cash and leaves Ronald guarding Robinson, hoping to slip ashore with the money. Instead, Ronald brings officials and proudly identifies both the smuggler and Harry as the man who stopped him. Harry instantly recasts himself as an anti-smuggling hero, turns over £5,000 as the recovered money and quietly keeps the other £24,000 hidden in his billfold. Ronald gets the praise while Harry gets the profit the boy never knew existed.
