Pro quarterback Jerry Brady hires Rocky after fixer Addison pressures him to throw a championship game, but the case becomes a murder investigation when coach Pat Casey is killed and conflicting sightings place Brady in impossible locations. Rocky uncovers an escaped identical twin whom Jerry has secretly been hiding, a double that has scrambled the alibis and been used throughout the scheme. Addison’s betting operation collapses during the final confrontation, and the surviving players are left to answer for the fix and the killing.
