Nick Arden has his wife Ellen legally declared dead after years missing at sea and immediately marries Bianca, only for Ellen to return alive from the shipwreck. Nick cannot find a way to tell his new bride, while Ellen disguises herself as an old family friend and becomes jealous when she learns another survivor shared her island exile. The mounting deception returns everyone to court, where the legal tangle is untied, Bianca abandons the marriage, and Nick is restored to Ellen, his very much alive favorite wife.
