Playwright Andre Casall marries dedicated doctor Jane Alexander expecting a conventional home life, only to learn that Jane intends to keep her own apartment, hospital schedule and professional independence. Their attempt at a carefully organized marriage produces jealousy, missed meals and mounting frustration as Andre feels more like an appointment than a husband. A jealous confrontation finally breaks through their rules, and Jane happily allows Andre to drag her back into the shared married life both have been avoiding.
