Daniel Carley returns to India obsessed with stealing the huge ruby known as the Heart of Kali and murders his way back to the hidden temple. Instead of killing him, the priests make him the new guardian of the jewel, revealing that the previous guardian was himself a thief sentenced to watch it for forty years; decades later Carley is still trapped beside the ruby, waiting desperately for another would-be thief to take his place.
