NBC Radio Network
About This Network
NBC launched in 1926 and quickly became the model for national network broadcasting. Its Red and Blue services helped turn radio into a shared coast-to-coast medium.
In Golden Radio Hour, NBC Radio Network is tied to 62 programs. The surviving network-linked recordings here run from 1935 to 1973.
Programs with a particularly strong presence here include The Great Gildersleeve, Fibber McGee and Molly, Dragnet, The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show, The Railroad Hour, X Minus One, Screen Directors Playhouse, The Fred Allen Show, Duffy's Tavern, and NBC University Theater.
People who recur often in those network-linked recordings include Walter Tetley, Richard LeGrand, Arthur Q. Bryan, Jim Jordan, Marian Jordan, Lillian Randolph, Phil Leslie, Earle Ross, Bill Thompson, and Hal Peary. These are archive connections, not a claim that everyone on the list was employed directly by the network.
