A frightened old sailor and a trail of violence pull Shayne into the hunt for a bag of legendary pearls believed to be worth a fortune. After murder and repeated attacks, Shayne traps the killer by pretending to throw the jewels into a fire; the desperate attempt to save them exposes the man who killed for the treasure. Shayne had substituted fake pearls before the test, leaving the real historic jewels intact for a museum.
