Rocky is mistaken for prizefighter Luis Gandolfo and forced into a bout that gamblers expect Gandolfo to throw. Instead the opposing fighter is poisoned, upsetting the fix and producing a fortune in unexpected winning bets, while the real Gandolfo later turns up strangled in Rocky’s closet. Rocky uncovers Loopie Monsoon and Stanley’s double-cross, only for bookmaker Mike Mitchell to seize their winnings and prepare to kill everyone involved; police intervene before Mitchell can finish the cleanup.
