The sheriff of Nottingham recruits Sir Martin of Metlock to infiltrate Sherwood Forest and help destroy Robin Hood's band. Martin gains the outlaws' confidence while Little John's capture forces Robin into a rescue attempt, but the final clash ends with the sheriff's force routed by Robin's archers and Martin cut down as the men of Sherwood disappear back into the forest.
