Ben Scofield

A masked young robber steals a large sum and shoots a man during the escape, and Britt joins Sheriff Ed Scofield in following the trail. The tracks and the robber's age increasingly point toward Ed's own son Ben, who had recently lost money gambling, forcing the sheriff to continue the hunt even while insisting his boy could not have changed into a killer overnight. Britt corners the wounded fugitive at an isolated cabin and survives a shootout. When the prisoner is finally seen clearly, he is not Ben, confirming Ed's faith in his son.
