Navy man Danny McBride and Army private Joe Harris exchange identities, sending each into the other's service, troubles and romance. The confusion becomes national news when one is headed for court-martial while the other is credited with saving a ship and winning the Medal of Honor; at the White House the two finally sort out who is who, Joe refuses the medal unless Danny is cleared, and Danny learns that the girl he loves is not Joe's sweetheart at all but Joe's sister.
