An elderly clergyman recalls the great romance of his youth with celebrated opera singer Cavallini, a love neither of them ultimately chose to turn into marriage. When his grandson Harry learns that Cavallini died unmarried, the story convinces him not to repeat the older generation's regret and he leaves at once to marry the woman he loves.
