After getting fired over a useless photograph of the newly arrived Statue of Liberty, small-town photographer Horace Miller goes to Paris hoping to find the woman who modeled for it. He mistakes Monique for the model and turns her into a New York publicity sensation, only to learn the statue was sculpted years before she was born; the hoax collapses, but Horace and Monique discover their romance is real.
