Jim Hardy leaves show business to run a country inn that opens only on holidays and falls in love with singer Linda Mason. Dancer Ted Hanover and a Hollywood director lure Linda away to make a movie based on the inn, and Jim initially lets her go, but loneliness sends him to the film set; Linda chooses Jim over Hollywood, and the couple return to the real Holiday Inn determined to make every day together feel like Christmas.
