Nancy and Phil have entered a marriage neither expects to keep, while Nancy thinks she belongs with Dickie and Phil believes he loves Anne. Their guardian encourages the divorce but stages a masquerade where exchanged capes confuse everyone's identities. Nancy unknowingly confesses to Dickie that she has fallen in love with her husband, while Phil makes the same discovery about Nancy. The divorce is abandoned and both spouses choose the marriage they nearly threw away.
