A Ceiling Unlimited wartime feature follows ordinary American Carl Jones from civilian life into training as an aerial navigator. While the women at home take on their own war work, Carl spends weeks mastering sextants, charts, timing and calculations before joining a bomber crew. In the air he computes courses, intercepts and arrival times, then recalculates after combat forces the aircraft to change direction. The program uses his transformation from an unremarkable civilian into a vital crewman to argue for the dignity and importance of the ordinary people carrying the war effort.
