Military officers struggle to explain reports of gremlins sabotaging Allied aircraft until pilot Lieutenant Messler describes being tormented by a hammer-wielding gremlin named Clarence. Messler's Irish sweetheart suggests the creatures are like old fairy folk and may respond better to hospitality than hostility. When Messler splashes Clarence with cream, the gremlin becomes friendly, repairs the plane and helps him defeat enemy aircraft. The officers decide the answer is to supply cream for the gremlins instead of fighting them.
