After a corrupt construction job collapses, Britt deliberately plants a false Sentinel story about missing fire-sprinkler equipment to identify the newspaper leak feeding information to the rival Clarion and to panic the officials behind the building graft. The Green Hornet then traps inspector Hudson and his partner inside another building, using smoke and the working sprinklers to force a signed confession that exposes the construction racket without killing them.
