Charles Collingwood visits Gene Autry and his wife at their North Hollywood home for an informal filmed interview. Gene discusses his Newhall ranch, his collection of Western memorabilia and the telegraph key that recalls his railroad work, and says he made roughly one hundred motion pictures plus about ninety-five half-hour television films. He remembers wanting to become a major-league ballplayer as a boy, comments on the lasting appeal and heavy production of Westerns, and, with his wife, talks about his reading habits, interest in current affairs and home life.
