Freelance correspondent Alan Rogers is recruited by French intelligence to trace an espionage network across Western Europe. He follows Mr. Smith, Tallchief and Mary Donnelly onto a train, where Mary admits the gang has stolen secret plans and agrees to help him. Rogers discovers the plans hidden in a freshly printed newspaper, but a struggle for the gun leaves Mary fatally shot. Swiss authorities arrest Smith and Tallchief, and Rogers returns to Paris with the recovered plans and his assignment completed.
